The playground at the Village is being built in memory of Mike McCormick. Mike unexpectedly passed away on February 9, 2014 from complications of the flu. He was a wonderful husband, father, friend, coworker and a strong Christian man. For many years Mike was involved in serving or a leadership role at West Towne Christian Church. Mike was the Executive Vice President of Stowers Machinery, Inc. and had worked for them for 24 years.
Mike loved children! Any child who was raising funds for their team, school, troop or church only had to ask Mike and he would purchase anything from them. One year, he bought 24 boxes of Girl Scout cookies!
Mike was involved in several ministries around the Knoxville area that concerned children. The Restoration House's ministry to single mothers and their children was very close to his heart. This playground will make many children happy and that would have made Mike happy also!
Thank you to all who have already contributed time and money for this first phase of construction. This initial phase is complete and we are now raising funds for Phase II.
