Sister Kitten Animal Rescue van fundraiser

From Eric Phelps

Want to save animals? Help Sister Kitten Animal Rescue purchase a rescue van. We're halfway there, but the pressure's on. A generous donor pledged $13,500 if we raise the other $13,500 by New Years Day.

Update #5

From Eric:

What an incredible New Years gift!

It’s been 10 short days since we introduced Sister Kitten Animal Rescue to the public and simultaneously launched the van fundraising campaign.

I was, frankly, not optimistic that we'd be able to reach our goal. Wow, did you all prove me wrong.

In those 10 days, you all showed up to raise $13,500 for a matching donation that will allow us to purchase a safe, dependable transit van to be used in all of our rescue work. I am still shocked, humbled, and so incredibly grateful for your generosity in helping us reach our goal so quickly.

So, how exactly is the purchase of a van vital to our work?

The van will allow us to do trap-neuter-return (TNR) projects for caregivers and cats who desperately need our help, transport companion animal dogs for spay/neuter, allow us to build safer and more comfortable homes for the most vulnerable dogs in WNC, and assist in rapid response efforts to help people and animals displaced by flooding and other natural disasters. We can do all that now, thanks to your support.

The fundraiser was shared and supported by people from all over—people I've never met and who I'm so grateful to for donating and getting the word out.

I also want to take a minute to acknowledge my friends, both old and new. I am blown away by your generosity and support. The fundraiser was generously supported and shared by people I knew 30+ years during college/WNOR FM99 radio days in Norfolk, Virginia, co-workers and friends who I worked with at PETA 20+ years ago, friends and co-workers from my Norfolk SPCA days 15+ years ago, friends and fellow cat ladies from the seven years I lived in Portland, Oregon, and more recently, by friends and co-workers from my new hometown of Asheville, who I’ve met and worked with during my time at the rescue I put my heart and passion into before founding my own animal rescue non-profit. And now, with your generous support, I will carry that heart and passion into Sister Kitten.

I truly can’t thank you enough for your generosity, for believing in me, and most importantly, for your compassion. I’m looking forward to the great things we’ll accomplish in 2020 for the animals.

Update #3

We just passed a couple of huge milestones!

1) Our van fundraiser is over halfway to its goal (currently at $7169) with just over three days to go! Thank you, everyone, who has donated and shared the donation page! We can do this! Please keep up the donations and shares! No donation amount is too small.

2) Our Sister Kitten Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/sisterkitten has surpassed 600 likes! Keep up those shares and likes!

These are huge when you consider that we just launched both the Facebook page and van fundraiser six days ago. We cannot thank you enough!

This photo of an adorable kitten is from a TNR project Eric did a few years ago. With your support, through our community cats program, we help vulnerable kittens like this little guy.

Our community cats program works with local caregivers to stabilize populations and improve the health and well-being of community cat colonies by providing resources and facilitating targeted trap-neuter-return (TNR) efforts.

We cannot do this work without your support. Thank you!

(This photo is a mom and kittens who Eric fostered a couple of years ago. He says they were the most beautiful mom and kittens he ever fostered and we have to agree. What an absolutely gorgeous little family.)
