Update #2

All - We wanted to provide an update on our effort to create a scholarship in memory of Matt. Through the donations made by all of you, and the hard work by Matt Laumb, Pete Nikolai, Dave Peterson and the AVHS Band Boosters, we've realized our goal and then some.

The Matt Liegel Memorial Scholarship Trust Fund has been established as a 501c3 non-profit to receive the funds you've all helped raise. The trust will have the oversight of the AVHS band boosters, who have agreed to partner with us to help administer the scholarships. We will be rolling out the scholarship very soon to the AVHS band, inviting music students to apply for a $1,000 scholarship to continue their studies at the university level, giving preference for students looking to attend University of Wisconsin Madison.

Once its up, we'll provide you all with a link to the application as well. With your donations, we will have a minimum of 5 years of scholarships, and countless young people who come in contact with the scholarship recipients will be impacted by the wonderful story of our friend Matt Liegel. Many thanks to you all.
