Our friend relocated to Ottawa for school, and to escape household familial abuse/violence where she feared for her safety. On top of the slew of traumas she is already dealing with, she just had a house fire.

Hello friends!
So we have finally hit the 12k mark! We are incredibly grateful to have made this goal within three months. We thank the community, artists and folks showing out in important ways. Our pal is now able to access a level of sustainability because of this fundraiser. However, some unexpected costs have come up and we need to raise $1583 more for our pal, making the updated goal $14, 000. Post-fire recovery has eaten up a large amount of what we have raised thus far and while we included some cushioning within our original goal of 12k, we need to push a bit more so things feel even more sustainable and comfortable.
This means, before we move forward, our team is taking a few weeks to re-assess ways to hit this added goal. We were able to make 12k in a short period of time, and there is no doubt about making this next goal come to fruition. In the meantime, please continue to direct funds to our fundraiser and many others specific to LGBTQIA+ Black folks.
