For the last six months, I've been conducting research in the field of rheumatology in addition to my medical school studies. I was recently selected to present my research at the Western Medical Research Conference in Carmel, CA in January. This is a great opportunity for me to share my work with others and gain experience discussing my work in an academic environment. However, I am responsible for all of the costs of attending the conference and it will be a stretch for my student budget. Any donations will be used to cover my plane ticket, lodging, and conference registration fees, and every dollar helps!
More about my research project: I have been studying methotrexate, a drug used to treat rheumatoid arthritis. Specifically, my project investigates whether methotrexate tablets or injections provide better treatment for patients with rheumatoid arthritis.
More about the research conference: The Western State Research Conference is one of the largest medical student research conferences in the country, and is held in Carmel, CA each January.
More about me: I am currently in my second year of medical school at the University of Washington School of Medicine. In addition to research, I co-coordinate a free health clinic at a Seattle homeless shelter, serve on a medical student advisory committee to the administration, and act as treasurer for an internal medicine interest group. In my free time, I enjoy cooking, reading, and enjoying Seattle.
