Xinjiang is a popular destination in China tours, covering magnificent natural scenery and rich humanistic landscapes. Let's embark on a Xinjiang tour to explore the secret landscapes here. This guide will show you what to do/see in Xinjiang.

Kanas

Kanas Scenic Area is located in the middle part of Altay Mountains in the north of Xinjiang, mainly including eight natural landscape areas and three humanistic landscape areas. Standing on the top of the mountain in front of the eyes of the Kanas Lake is like a sapphire inlaid in the mountains. The surrounding mountains look like they are painted with colorful brushes, which makes people relaxed and joyful.

Located in the Kanas Scenic Area, Hemu Village is also a popular attraction on a trip to Xinjiang. Hemu Village is a centralized living area for the Tuwa people, who maintain the most complete ethnic traditions. Tourists can visit the villages of the Tuwa people and learn about their way of life, folk customs and architectural styles.

Tianshan Tianchi

Don't miss out on enjoying the magnificent natural scenery during your Xinjiang trip. Tianshan Tianchi is also a magnificent site not to be missed during your Xinjiang tours. Tianshan Tianchi is a world-famous alpine lake scenic area. The lake, encircled by mountains, boasts water as clear as a mirror, presenting a picturesque scenery.

The vertical natural landscape zone of Tianshan Tianchi is also a highlight. Each landscape zone has its own characteristics, showing a rich natural ecological picture. The natural vegetation around Tianchi includes rich meadows, forests and a variety of rare plants and animals, making it a paradise for biology lovers.

Kashgar Ancient City

During your Xinjiang travel, you can also witness the historical relics of China's Silk Road. Kashgar is a famous city on the China Silk Road tours. There are many historical attractions here, and the Kashgar Ancient City is one of them. The ancient city of Kashgar is the world's largest surviving complex of raw earth buildings. It is rich in local ethnic performances, allowing visitors to enjoy the songs and dances of Xinjiang.

There are many other attractions in the old city that are worth visiting. As the landmark of Kashgar Ancient City, Id Kah Mosque is not only a holy place in the hearts of local Muslims, but also an excellent window for tourists to learn about Islamic culture.

Nalati Scenic Spot

The Nalati Grassland is also a popular natural attraction on a trip to Xinjiang. As one of the world's four major grasslands in the subalpine meadow botanical area, the Nalati Grassland has been a famous pasture since ancient times. The rolling terrain, grasslands and snow-capped mountains make for a breathtaking view.

Nalati Grassland has beautiful scenery in all seasons, but the best time to visit is from June to September. At this time, the climate in Xinjiang is pleasant, and the grassland is full of green grass and colorful flowers. The Nalati Grassland is also one of the best places to photograph the starry sky.

Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar

Located in Urumqi, Xinjiang International Grand Bazaar is a famous Xinjiang tourist attraction. The entire complex is characterized by towering minarets, brownish-yellow facades and open public spaces. The sightseeing tower is surrounded by spacious squares and commercial streets. Visitors can purchase a variety of goods with Xinjiang characteristics, such as Hetian jade and wool products.

Every summer, the Grand Bazaar hosts the Xinjiang Food and Culture Festival, which attracts tourists from all over the world. In addition, it is also a good place to learn about the multi-ethnic culture of Xinjiang and experience the local market life.

Jiaohe Ruins

Jiaohe Ruins on the western outskirts of Turpan is a historical site, the oldest and best-preserved city of raw earth architecture in the world. The ancient city is more than 1,600 meters long from north to south and about 300 meters wide from east to west at its widest point, and is divided into parts such as temples, residential houses and government offices.

Due to the dry climate and scarce rainfall in the Turpan Basin, most of the area has been preserved. Most of the buildings in the city were constructed during the Tang Dynasty, and the architectural layout is unique. Numerous rammed earth buildings, small but complete, are now visible in the city.

Kezil Thousand-Buddha Grottoes

Travelers interested in Buddhist art can visit the Kezil Thousand-Buddha Grottoes on the Xinjiang trip. The grottoes, cut into the cliffs along the river in Baekseong County, are a World Heritage Site on the ancient Silk Road.

The art of Khizr Thousand Buddha Caves is a synthesis of cave, sculpture and mural painting. The most impressive feature of the murals in the Kizil Grottoes is the diamond grid composition, in which each diamond is painted with a “story of life”.
