Tony Lazo Fund

Tony Lazo plays youth football.  I had the honor of being his first tackle football coach.  This year I saw Tony at our offseason training camps and I was so happy to see him looking so good.  His father had put him through some offseason conditioning classes and Tony looked great!  Last year when he joined my team he had the size to play the game, but he had to learn a lot about the physical game of football.  He progressed to be the starting center for my team and held that position for the whole season. 

Tony was one of the players that I was extremely impressed with as the season progressed.  Some of my coaching staff still talk about how much he improved throughout the year.  

This year I was not going to get the chance to coach him, as he moved up in division.  His father was a great help to me as my Athletic Director for the team so I was going to miss his contribution to the team as well.  While practicing with my team this year, I received some distressing news that Tony was diagnosed with having a malignant tumor in his brain.  Being a football coach, and just being a football team in general, causes a strong sense of family for those on the team.  I decided to reach out to big Tony to let him know that I'm here to help should any needs arise.   

Typically you don't expect to be asked to help, but being asked for help, in any capacity, is truly an honor.  I was able to get my company to donate an ipad for little Tony's use while at doctor visits and long hospital stays.  Seeing his face light up when we delivered the ipad was truly great, but his spirit as he goes through a mighty struggle was what most inspired me.

He truly is an amazing boy and any donations for the family can help them with the unexpected expenses of long hospital stays as well as anything they can do to help little Tony feel special.  Your support and prayers are truly appreciated for this amazing boy.
