The VII International Biennial of New Techniques, Concepts and Developments in Watercolor is held in Caudete, Spain
The VII International Biennial of New Techniques, Concepts and Developments in Watercolour has already been inaugurated in Caudete (Albacete, Spain).
The BIC is a biannual pictorial meeting that brings together visual artists whose main means of expression is watercolour, especially those who use new techniques, innovative concepts and modern expressive developments.
It is held in the town of Caudete (Albacete) and is jointly organised by the Department of Culture of the M.I. Town Hall of Caudete and the “Villa de Caudete” Art Workshop. It has the collaboration of the Provincial Council of Albacete.
The team that forms the “Villa de Caudete” Art Workshop, within a volunteer project that under the motto “nobody pays, nobody gets paid” develops the work and activities necessary for its proper celebration.
Although each biennial has its own focus, they all share a common goal: to provide a global platform for artists from around the world to showcase their works and engage in an enriching cultural dialogue.
Artists from around the world are invited to participate without limitations of theme, support, pigments, materials or treatments. Among all the works presented, a highly qualified jury selects the seventy works that most represent the standards of quality, creativity and technique required by the BIC and from these, the Gold, Silver and Bronze Medals, winners of the BIC, are selected.
The VII International Biennial of New Techniques, Concepts and Developments in Watercolor of Caudete returns this year with an outstanding participation of international artists, consolidating itself as one of the most important events in the world of contemporary watercolor. After the success of its previous edition, which attracted thousands of people, the 2024 Biennial promises to exceed expectations with exhibitions, activities and the presence of top-level artists in its seventh edition.
Among the featured participants of this edition are Nina Volk (Australia), Antonio San Martín Castaños (Spain) and Rajat Subhra (India), guest artists who will offer master classes on new trends in watercolour. There will also be performances by Simonida Flipova (Macedonia) and Joan Coch (Spain), who will collaborate on a live painting, accompanied by live music, creating a unique artistic experience.
Italy, guest country
Italy, as guest country, will have a special role in this edition, with the presence of an important group of Italian artists who will offer live demonstrations, and with the outstanding participation of Anna Massinissa, president of the In Arte Fabriano Association, who will present the Fabriano Biennial, an internationally renowned event in the field of watercolour.
The event will not only bring together established artists, but will also include a wide range of activities for the public, such as exhibitions, masterclasses, Children's Exhibition of the Biennial, aimed at promoting art among the youngest. In addition, it has exhibition spaces as emblematic of Caudete as the Hermitage of Santa Ana, the Cloister of the Convent of San José, the Training Center of the San Francisco Neighborhood, the José Pérezgil Exhibition Hall and the Rafael Requena Watercolor Museum.
