Your gift today helps support our innovative programs. One
of our newer programs, with amazing results, is our 2020 Sustainability
Scholars Program. The goal of this opportunity is to provide an immersive,
high-quality research experience for approximately 15 freshman and sophomores
in the area of sustainability and environmental improvement. The practical
experience they receive is valued by employers and graduate schools, as they
receive support in refining their interests and building a sustainability
portfolio—while also growing critical thinking and analytical skills. Through
this unique program, scholars have worked closely on projects that have
included issues related to food insecurity, transportation alternatives,
watershed protection, energy policy, and the list goes on.
Along with the 2020 Scholars, we have also supported over
200 interns. These interns are working to redefine sustainability on campus
through intensive working groups. Our students work with faculty and staff to
develop lasting programs that make our campus a better place while also
receiving the opportunity to present their culminating work at an annual symposium
dedicated to sustainability.
Since our inception we’ve supported countless programs to
make campus more sustainable—such as our bi-annual Energy Challenge, which
has conserved over 16.7 million gallons of water and saved IU more than $2
million in utility bills. We’ve helped fund projects like the new Campus Farm
and Heritage Trail. Please help us continue to support these programs and
others by donating to our Bloomington Sustainability Fund.
