We are Jim and JinYoung, the owners of Just Float Films. We are passionate conservationists and filmmakers who are dedicated to creating impactful films that matter. Our mission is to connect our audiences with the wildest places on Earth and to inspire a renewed sense of stewardship for the planet we call home.
Our current project, “Speaking Eep!” follows a team of women scientists who are working to conserve one of North America’s most climate-sensitive (and adorable) species: the American Pika. Population biologist Dr. Chris Ray and PhD student Rachel Billings are working to decode the high-pitched “eeps” of pika speech. Through field recordings, monitoring, and an AI database of individual pika “vocal fingerprints”, the team hopes to decode the mysteries of pika language and determine how communication between subspecies, each of which has its own distinct dialect, might help separate populations of pikas come together to adapt to their changing environment.
Donations to this project will help us complete this film in time to submit it to the 2025 environmental film festival circuit. Your support will allow us to circulate this film to the widest possible audience and introduce the nation to the American Pika.
This campaign is being organized by Tehri Parker, executive producer of "Speaking Eep!". Tehri is a past executive director of Rocky Mountain Wild and a volunteer with the Colorado Pika Project.
