Deon, South Africa's "Mr Hugger" is in need of your gracious help.
Hello all, my name is Vannessa, I am a South African living in the US and my entire family is back in SA.
Deon is apart of my family down in South Africa. I am here to raise funds for his medical care and ongoing support he'll need to get back to being the "Mr Hugger" we all know of and love.
After falling down, he was rushed to a government hospital in Durban, South Africa, were he was diagnosed as diabetic.
Our loving "Mr Hugger" required his nickname from giving the BEST hugs to all those around him, family, friends and even total strangers. He's one of the kindest and most amazing individuals you'll ever meet.
He has been unable to obtain medical insurance or medical aid, as he was struggled with the downfall of finances and the economy within SA is not at it's greatest peak, as have many others like him. Unfortunately he didn't have a choice, he had to go into a government operated hospital, which is poorly funded and the only option for people with no insurance in South Africa.
All donations will be sent to his family in providing the necessary care for his recovery.
After learning of his diagnosis, he's now fully insulin dependent and it's a huge adjustment. He was released from care, only to fall again and has suffered many bruises and injuries as the result. He needs URGENT care and both him and his family have not been able to raise the funds for ensuring his recovery.
Due to the fall he had, he also has a small cerebral brain bleed, which then lead to a type of stroke, and although his condition is steady for now, the bills and care he needs to remain this way are starting to take a toll on his loved ones.
He has also struggled with his weight for many years and this is also going to be an additional road to overcome, as many of us know, it can be very difficult to get on track, but he is the strongest and most determined person I've ever known and this is something he will absolutely accomplish.
Deon will also be out of work for several months and this is going to be an additional strain on his recovery due to financial loss. Unfortunately there are no options for him to get financial aid from the government.
I will be keeping updates on his condition for all donations and wish everyone a blessed day.
Thank you for your support in helping this incredible human being recover!
