Hi I am Aaron, I’ve been trying to raise my son in a state that tends to not support single fathers. With the passing of his mother, I am trying to get closer to family so that he has the support he needs.

This week has been a better week. Drake has returned to school and they are assuring me that they are going to be more observant for any bullying activity. This has given him less aniexty knowing that he can be at school without feeling threatened.
We currently live in Missouri where at every turn this state has made it more difficult to raise my son then trying to assist me since he came to live with me full time. After years of fighting to be in his life We were together then within one year of us reconnecting his grandparents passed, his mother reverted back to her chemical dependency and my brother who was helping me passed. Then this year his mother passed.
I tried my best to seek assistance but got turned down and just met one obstacle after another. It seems no matter what I did to get ahead I was just pushed back.
The sad part is my son Drake is a good kid, coming of age and doing well in school. I want more for him but can never get ahead or get assistance to help me to help him.
I have one godfather who has helped us tremendously but he is running into the same financial hardships but is willing to help if we can get to Florida and get established
This is what the funding is for to get myself and my son to a safer environment where his extended family can help him and me so I can work and know he has safe options.
I had a rough life, made bad decisions but also had no one to help me get on track in my youth. I want to do right by my son to give him a fighting chance. He deserves a break and an opportunity for success without having the burden of a Dad who is looked upon as unworthy.
Getting to Florida to be near our extended family will give him a fighting chance and create a place for both of us to show everyone that my son is worth me changing my past to secure a future for him.
I have my godfather being in charge of what comes in to ensure anyone who helps us knows this is for my son to get a decent life, safe place to live and opportunity to excel further in school.
Every day that goes by as I take a step ahead I have been knocked back 2 steps but I keep moving forward. I am asking for help to get ahead instead of being so far behind.

It was a bad week, I left work to go to my son’s school due to him being bullied and physically attacked. Because of my past they all assume the apple doesn’t fall from the tree. Instead of treating him as a victim the school tried to punish him for defending himself from the bullies. The state of Missouri truly does not help single Dads or kids who are different. The prejudices are deep here. But I will continue to try go get him to a safer place.
