Sherwin C. Fortune Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was developed in memory of Sherwin Fortune, a Hofstra CSTEP alumni who was committed to STEM, education and her community. From a young age, Sherwin knew she wanted a career in science. She graduated with honors from Baldwin High School, majored in Psychology with a Chemistry minor at Hofstra University, and completed a Master of Science Degree in Physician Assistant Studies. She passed the Board on her first attempt and began her career as a Physician's Assistant in Valley Stream. Sherwin was an agent of change in the community, serving as science instructor at Roosevelt Union Free School District and Hofstra's Saturday Scholar Academy. Her compassion, honesty and work ethic were admired by all who knew her. We honor her life by recognizing a student who embodies her spirit with this scholarship.
