What
makes for a connected community in cities and neighborhoods from Detroit, to Grand
Rapids, around the country and right here in Kalamazoo? We believe it’s the
willingness of committed people to rally around the issues and come together to
solve them. We have experienced just such a community in our friends,
volunteers, and the dedicated supporters of Riverview Launch.
Formerly a tax foreclosed and
abandoned six-acre parcel on the Kalamazoo River, Riverview Launch grew out of
a concept developed by the Kalamazoo County Land Bank in partnership with the
community and local leaders. They saw the possibility for a vibrant hub of
activity on the northeast side of Kalamazoo, near downtown and along the Kalamazoo
River Valley Trail.
Riverview
Launch offers the opportunity to bring neighbors together, drive momentum
toward the creation of greener, safer, and smarter use of public spaces, and improve
quality of life on the northeast side of Kalamazoo. Volunteers have turned out
by the dozens to plant a rain garden, paint the barn, pour a concrete patio,
and support the efforts to revitalize this site.
With the final stages of construction happening in 2015, and with over $1.9 million raised, we're asking our Kalamazoo community to show your support for this project and help us keep Riverview Launch beautiful. Your support is more critical than ever in helping complete this project. Thank you!!
