My name is Sophie Shain and I am writing this as Asia's coach, horse trainer, and mentor.

Friday, June 13th, Asia was involved in a terrible riding accident while in a lesson. Her horse spooked and bolted. While Asia did her best to use her skills to gain control, she fell off the right side of Tina going roughly 20MPH, headfirst into a steel fence post. Her helmet saved her life. The MIPS popped and her helmet broke in half on impact. An ambulance took her to Good Sam in Broomfield, where it was determined she needed to be airlifted to Children's Trauma Center in Aurora, CO.

Asia has suffered major injuries including a skull fracture, broken nose, broken ribs, chest trauma, fractures in her back, a broken collar bone, and broken scapula. Due to the head trauma, Asia is also suffering from a severe concussion.

Asia needed to be intubated for several days to help breathing support and clear blood in her lungs. She spent 4 days in the ICU and has been moved to a regular hospital room where it is estimated she will need to stay for 2-3 weeks.

While her family has health insurance, out of pocket costs are already estimated to be tens of thousands of dollars. With the airlift, ambulance, lengthy stay in the hospital, and the rehabilitation that will be necessary to recover from this horrible accident, I am asking this wonderful community to assist Asia and her family with these costs.

Asia is a very HARD WORKING 14 year old, who wants for nothing other than to be with horses. Frequently I find her in Tina's stall singing to her. Asia LOVES animals with every part of her and has made it a point to learn true horsemanship, not just riding. On days it was too cold to lesson this past winter, Asia was learning about bits, medications, and how to care for horses in emergencies. She is the type of person our community needs to move the sport and love of horses forward, which is why I am asking for financial help and support for her family.

Thank you
