Anyone that knew Richard knew that he was truly one of the most giving generous kind-hearted people you could ever meet!! He lived a very blessed and fortunate life being married to the love of his life for 54 years before she passed in 2018, a part of him left when she did.. A few months later a mini angel came into our lives AND took a liking/loving like no other to our father!! You would have thought trip had been born just to be dad's emotional AND service support animal, watching his every move AND knowing his good days from his bad- we weren't ONLY his world BUT trip became OURS too BUT EVEN more so to our father!! In Dad's 80yrs on THIS earth he shared what knowledge he'd gained through experiences life had taught him.. He took a chance dropping out of LSUS senior year (final semester) to go into business for himself BUT it was one that paid OFF!! He Owned & Operated Richard Lightfoot Construction from 1974 UNTIL neck Surgery gone wrong in 2017-forcing him to shut down the company abruptly without choice (he lost a part of himself when that happened)... ONLY to lose mom less than a year later & then continuously be hassled by the reverse mortgage company UNTIL their relentlessness paid off & we lost the only home we've known for damn near 40yrs, then from getting kicked out of our home to being treated like a Guinea pig trying to figure out what was causing his worsening problems and pain (one point thinking he was going to need another back surgery, to only find out days later that his pain was due to metastatic prostate cancer that had already spread & began to damage his bones , a rapid round of radiation for pain relief that did more harm than good, made us realize there was little left to be done & goal was to make him comfortable as possible and bring him to (a different home) BUT one where we'd be under the same roof once more (an idea that seemed flat out impossible & unachievable @times) BUT that ONCE attainable &: very possible goal was taken away when he left us suddenly & unexpectedly 2 days prior to coming home.... So much was left unsaid thinking we had more time & now there's a chance we lose the ONLY part that's left for us to have of the greatest man we'll EVER know!! PLEASE help US get what remains of our father back home where he belongs!! Every Single Penny Is a step closer in reuniting US with our father & Trip with his Poppy!! ❤️
