My childhood home burned down, taking my parents, Mike & Myndi, with it. They were the heart of this place. I’m rebuilding it to honor them, brick by brick. Thank you for any help. —A.J.

On July 30th, 2023, my childhood home burned down—and in that fire, I lost both of my parents, Mike and Myndi Moncibias.
It’s hard to put into words what that kind of loss feels like. This wasn’t just the house I grew up in—it was the heart of everything. And my parents? They were the soul of it.
Mike and Myndi were the kind of people who made the world feel better just by being in it.
My mom, Myndi, would feed anyone. Didn’t matter who you were or what you had—if you were hungry, she’d make sure you had a hot plate in front of you. My dad, Mike, was always laughing at something. He could crack a joke and light up the whole room, no matter how heavy life got.
They were full of life. Generous to the core. The kind of people a whole community leans on—and misses deeply when they’re gone.
Now, almost three years later, I’m still here—trying to hold onto what little’s left. The land is overgrown. The trees are hanging over the road. The house is just blackened remains. And the silence hits different when there’s no one left to fill it.
I’m raising funds to rebuild the home that held so many memories—and to honor the legacy my parents left behind.
