The 4th Annual and Final 2021 Race Up Rock Creek!
Click Here for our Live Fish Tracking Map
Every spring, rainbow and cutthroat trout congregate in healthy tributaries of the Clark Fork River to begin a long journey up the stream to spawn. In 2021 and for the fourth year in a row, we are tracking spawners in Rock Creek.
Montana Fish Wildlife & Parks inserted micro transmitter radio tags into nearly 50 Rock Creek trout. By tracking and studying fish movement, we learn about:
1. Location and quality of spawning habitat
2. Location of barriers that block fish passage and spawning
3. Causes of mortality
This informs management and restoration activities in the watershed. Sponsor a fish and support this joint research project of MT Fish Wildlife and Parks, Trout Unlimited, and MT Natural Resource Damage Program.
