The devastating war in Ukraine has led to a
grave humanitarian crisis, with millions of people forced to flee their homes.
Since 24 February, more than 6.3 million refugees have left Ukraine and fled to
a number of countries primarily across Europe. Bulgaria is among those
countries welcoming many of them, with now more than 100,000 Ukrainians (mostly
children, women, and elderly) currently residing in the country with temporary
protection status.
These families have had traumatic
experiences, with fathers and husbands being left behind in Ukraine to fight,
and mothers, children and grandparents finding themselves alone in a foreign
land with nothing.
We at OnProcess cannot stay indifferent to
this and want to do something proactive to help these families – even if it is
just a few. To that end we are setting up a fund to help house and support a
small number of families, initially in Bulgaria.
