Stacked rocks near the pavilion show just how serene this area has quickly become. Community members often stop to reflect and enjoy this natural setting along the Core Trail.

PEACE... It does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, trouble, or hard work.  It means to be in the midst of those things and still be calm in your heart.

Answering the challenge to define the word "Peace" can actually be a daunting task for many.  It's typcially easier to think about peace in terms what it isn't (i.e. absence of war or conflict) versus what it is.

But what the Peace Pavilion at Rotary River Park aims to provide the Steamboat Springs community is a place that creates an emotional state whereby users feel great energy.  And that energy is used to reinvigorate your mind and refresh your enthusiasm for the natural beauty of our area.

The Peace Pavilion at Rotary River Park serves as a celebrated landmark along the Yampa Valley Core Trail.  A place where individuals and groups can gather freely to rest, reflect, rejoice, and rejuvenate.  This structure provides many uses for many people and stands as a focal point for peace in our community and the world that surrounds us.

By giving to this project you are demonstrating your support for something larger than any one individual.  Think of your donation, no matter the amount, as a single drop in an otherwise calm body of water.  The ripples your contribution creates will impact the entirety of this effort.  Your financial dedication will positively affect both your friends and neighbors in this community and you can celebrate in knowing you played a role in this.

Serving as the gateway to the scenic Yampa River Boardwalk, this pavilion stands as a noteworthy enhancement to the Core Trail, a gathering place for individuals of all ages and abilities, and a beacon of peace in Routt County.  But none of this can be achieved without the kindness, generosity, and support of individuals like you.

Timbers have gone up!

When the builders heard about our 40th Anniversary Celebration scheduled for August 12th they kicked things into high gear to get the main structure pieced together. They are wasting no time at all in getting this thing built. Many of the timbers have already been placed and set. Roofing should begin later this week.

We are on the way...

Progress at the Pavilion site is taking shape on an almost daily basis. The concrete foundation got poured last week and this week we begin erecting the timber frames. This site was beautiful to begin with but is going to be a prize location in Steamboat once construction is done.

We are planning a formal dedication ceremony at the pavilion site on August 12th at 6:30pm. We'll have s'mores for the kids and a glow lantern send-off. All are welcome.

Initial Crafting Has Begun

Master wood craftsman, Jo Bond, has started work on sculpting the wood beams that will be used to frame the pavilion. Using old-world techniques and mostly by hand, the trusses will be linked by a series of grooved notches.

This project will be by no means a pre-fabricated, modular endeavor. The skill, precision, and careful thought that's being put into pre-construction planning demonstrates the team's commitment to quality and uniqueness.
