WHAT WE DO

We teach people experiencing a disability how to run a team of sled dogs.

ANY DISABILITY?

We have adaptive equipment that can accommodate most any ability, including paralysis, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome and autism.

Our staff and volunteers are experienced dog mushers trained to work with people experiencing disabilities.

OUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES

Mushing School: This is our core mission. Anyone with a disability can use our team and our equipment to learn how to dog mush.

Golden Heart Sled Dog Race: We are hosing the first-ever sled dog race for people with disabilities in March 2015.

Make-a-Wish: We offer our services to "Make-a-Wish" at no cost. We even help with travel and lodging logistics.

WE NEED MONEY TO..

  • host the Golden Heart Sled Dog Race - the first ever sled dog race for people with disabilities
  • buy arctic gear for our participants to wear
  • customize our equipment - advance braking systems, leg rest and ski system (to eventually replace wheels)
  • purchase an adaptive dog sled for children
  • buy a hoist to lift people from wheelchairs into dog sleds
  • purchase radio communication for on-trail safety
  • buy two flare guns to scare off moose in case of confrontation in the backcountry
  • buy a two person dog sled for advanced teaching opportunities

OUR MISSION/PURPOSE STATEMENT

Noble Paws provides dog sled training and services for persons experiencing disabilities and at-risk behaviors. This service includes the use of a trained dog sled team and adaptive dog sleds. The sleds are modified and/or custom made to accommodate the specific needs of the participants.

The ultimate goal of Noble Paws is to enable participants to discover new forms of mobility, independence and self-reliance.
