Hello all! Thanks to your help, and the support of over 640+ people around the world, our communities came together to raise a collective $26,558 to provide food packages (to prevent malnutrition) and water filters (to prevent Cholera) for the people of Yemen.
More specifically, we were able to provide 338 food packages and 200 water filters for the people of Yemen. This was enough to provide a one-month supply of food for 2,028 people and a 5-year supply of clean water for 1,200 people. We also partnered with Amboss & Sketchy to provide 3 Medical Students in Yemen with free board prep resources to aid them throughout their medical journeys.
To all of our donors/supporters, be on the lookout for an email containing a PDF that consists of pictures/videos that help illustrate how we helped make a difference for the people of Yemen/Lebanon (be sure to check your Junk folder).
We thank you all so much again for your continuous support of different communities around the world. With your help, the world is a better place today than it was yesterday. I can't wait to see what we all accomplish next, together.
Happy Holidays,
-Aneil Tawakalzada
Yemen is the largest humanitarian crisis in the world, with more than 24 million people (~80% of the population) in need of humanitarian assistance, including more than 12 million children.
Yemen is also facing the largest Cholera outbreak in modern history, with ~10.2 million children lacking access to basic healthcare, sanitation, or clean water.
With COVID-19 continuing to spread rapidly across the world, Yemen is facing an emergency within an emergency. Tens of thousands of more children are estimated to develop life-threatening severe acute malnutrition, with the currently fatality rate in Yemen due to COVID-19 5x the global average.
Currently, the Yemen Relief & Reconstruction Foundation (YRRF) is on the ground across Yemen working to provide the people of Yemen with food baskets (to prevent malnutrition), water filters (to prevent Cholera), school supplies, COVID-19 supplies, and financial support for the orphans. YRRF has informed us that they are most in need of Food Baskets and Water Filters, so our money will primarily be delegated towards these items.
Our medical students believe that it is our duty, as humanitarians, to help those around the world in need. We must come together during this time of uncertainty to help make a positive impact on our local, national, and global communities.
With your contribution, we will aid YRRF in their efforts to save the children of Yemen. Any donation would be extremely appreciated and would help make a difference in the world's battle against COVID-19, malnutrition, and Cholera. Do your part to help make the world a better place - help us with our Med Students for Yemen Relief Initiative!
*Additionally, thanks to your support, Amboss & Sketchy have agreed to provide 4 medical students in Yemen with free Board Prep resources if we reach our goal of $17,000!
*Lastly, in light of the recent events in Beirut, we will donate a portion of all money raised to Zaman International's "Lift Lebanon" Campaign to help provide relief for the people of Beirut.

Hello all! As we officially bring our Med Students for Yemen Relief Initiative to a close, we wanted to thank you all so much for your overwhelming support these past few weeks. With your help, and the support of over 640+ people around the country, our communities came together to collectively raise $26,558 for the people of Yemen! This is such an incredible accomplishment and truly would not have been possible without each and every one of you.
Going forward, we will work directly with the Yemen Relief & Reconstruction Foundation, as well as Sketchy & Amboss, in order to make the donations and to maintain as much transparency as possible with our donors. In the coming weeks, we will work to provide our donors with pictures/videos that help illustrate exactly how our collective effort helped make a difference for the people of Yemen. We will share these pictures/videos via email through Fundly.
Just a reminder that donations will go directly towards providing the people of Yemen with water filters (to prevent Cholera) and food packages (to prevent malnutrition). Additionally, 4 medical students in Yemen will receive free board prep resources from Sketchy & Amboss. Finally, a portion of all money raised will be donated to Zaman International's 'Lift Lebanon' Campaign to help provide relief for the people of Beirut in light of recent events.
We thank you all again for your support throughout our Med Students for Yemen Relief Initiative. Because of you, the world is a better place today than it was yesterday. Because of us, the world will continue to heal, one step at a time. I hope this Initiative helps illustrate that when our collective communities come together, we can truly help make a difference in the world. Never stop dreaming - the sky is the limit.
All the best,

Hello all! Thanks to your help, we have officially surpassed our initial goal of $17,000! As agreed, Amboss & Sketchy will now provide 4 medical students in Yemen with free Board Prep Resources. This is such an incredible achievement that truly would not have been possible without each and every one of you.
Because we still have 10 days left in our Med Students for Yemen Relief Initiative, we have increased our goal to $20,000! I encourage you all to continue showing your support for our cause, as all funds raised will help provide clean water and food for the people of Yemen, and a portion of all proceeds will be donated to Lebanon to help provide relief for the people of Beirut.
I thank you all so much again for doing your part in making the world a better place. I can't wait to see how far we go.
