Hello! Eduardo Aragon opened Café
Revueltas in the heart of Oaxaca city in Mexico approximately 3 years ago. It is
an independent café that seeks to offer people more than just drinks; it seeks
to achieve the integration of the international community and show and
disseminate alternative ideas. In the cafe there is a small bookstore and a
small library with unconventional books on political, philosophical, artistic
and cultural topics. Independent films are shown, with reflection and discussion
afterward to increase awareness of various societal issues. The café also
supports local, independent producers by selling products such as honey,
chocolate and mezcal. Eduardo also produces the “Gato Negro” magazine with
topics related to history, philosophy, art, culture, politics to disseminate
academic information that cannot be easily accessed elsewhere.
Café Revueltas was just getting
established when the pandemic hit. There is the very real possibility it will
close as income has decreased considerably. Money raised through this campaign
will go towards back rent, future rent, salaries, and other essential café expenses
such as supplies and internet service. It is hoped that this campaign will get
the café through the worst of the pandemic.
Any amount is so greatly appreciated and
thank you very much in advance!
