Yemen is the largest humanitarian crisis in the world, with more than 24 million people (~80% of the population) in need of humanitarian assistance, including more than 12 million children.
Yemen is also facing the largest Cholera outbreak in modern history, with ~10.2 million children lacking access to basic healthcare, sanitation, or clean water.
With COVID-19 continuing to spread rapidly across the world, Yemen is facing an emergency within an emergency. Tens of thousands of more children are estimated to develop life-threatening severe acute malnutrition, with the currently fatality rate in Yemen due to COVID-19 5x the global average.
Currently, the Yemen Relief & Reconstruction Foundation (YRRF) is on the ground across Yemen working to provide the people of Yemen with food baskets (to prevent malnutrition), water filters (to prevent Cholera), school supplies, COVID-19 supplies, and financial support for the orphans. YRRF has informed us that they are most in need of Food Baskets and Water Filters, so our money will primarily be delegated towards these items.
Our medical students believe that it is our duty, as humanitarians, to help those around the world in need. We must come together during this time of uncertainty to help make a positive impact on our local, national, and global communities.
With your contribution, we will aid YRRF in their efforts to save the children of Yemen. Any donation would be extremely appreciated and would help make a difference in the world's battle against COVID-19, malnutrition, and Cholera. Do your part to help make the world a better place - help us with our Med Students for Yemen Relief Initiative!
*Additionally, thanks to your support, Amboss & Sketchy have agreed to provide 4 medical students in Yemen with free Board Prep resources if we reach our goal of $17,000!
*Lastly, in light of the recent events in Beirut, we will donate a portion of all money raised to Zaman International's "Lift Lebanon" Campaign to help provide relief for the people of Beirut.
