(Español Abajo) - Community! As I was heading to prepare for work at the coffee shop, Doña Maribel and I ran into each other.
As we updated each other about our day, she expressed to me that sales have been tough and that she had been sick for a while and had just begun to feel better recently. She shared that these two experiences have made it difficult for her to pay for her next couple months' rent. After talking about community resources, barriers to these resources and lack of these resources, she asked if I could support her in raising money to pay for her rent to get her back on her feet.
Doña Maribel is a Salvadoran street vendor who has lived in DC for +20 years supporting community events and providing her special Salvi touch to her food. Her kindness is always apparent when she walks through community and many people from various backgrounds greet her and hug her.

¡Comunidad! Mientras me dirigía a prepararme para trabajar en la cafetería, Doña Maribel y yo nos encontramos.
Mientras nos actualizábamos sobre nuestro día, ella me expresó que las ventas habían sido difíciles y que había estado enferma por un tiempo y que recientemente había comenzado a sentirse mejor. Ella compartió que estas dos experiencias le han dificultado pagar el alquiler de los próximos dos meses. Después de hablar sobre los recursos comunitarios, las barreras a estos recursos y la falta de estos recursos, me preguntó si podía ayudarla a recaudar dinero para pagar el alquiler y recuperarla.
