From Idaho Manure to Clean Fuel: Help Us Build the First Lab

My name is Andrew Mortensen, and I grew up around cattle, manure, and the kind of hard work that defines rural Idaho. I’ve spent the last several years working on a solution to a problem most people don’t think about: what do we do with the 70 million tons of manure produced every year by American dairy farms?

At Yellowstone HTL, we believe that waste isn't the end of the story — it's the beginning of a better one.

We're building a new type of clean energy system that turns dairy manure into renewable gasoline and diesel, fertilizer, and carbon-sequestering biochar — all at the farm, all powered by electricity. Our system is called HydroCav™, and it uses cavitation-enhanced hydrothermal liquefaction, along with licensed CleanSET™ water treatment and plasma reactors, to complete the process with zero fossil inputs.

But we need your help to get there.

What Your Support Will Help Build

We’re raising $100,000 to fund the first critical step in building our lab-scale system — the one that gets us to full funding for a $3 million commercial-grade prototype.

Your donation will directly fund:

  • Final CAD engineering and design schematics

  • Down payments on the cavitation reactor and plasma testing components

  • Site prep for our Idaho lab location

  • Licensing commitments for the CleanSET™ and plasma technologies

  • Fuel testing plans and applications for federal funding and carbon credits

This lab is the gateway. Once it’s engineered and scoped, we can raise the rest of the $3 million from private investors, USDA and DOE programs, and strategic partners.

Why This Matters

This isn’t just about building a machine. It’s about proving that farms can fuel the future — that rural America can generate clean energy, cut emissions, and build wealth using the waste it already produces.

It’s about putting Idaho at the center of an energy transition that works for agriculture, not against it.

We’ve already put in thousands of hours and our own capital. We’ve lined up licensing partners. We’ve modeled the economics. Now, with your help, we can take the next step and build the lab that proves it all works.
