Ask any Iraq or Afghan war veteran about their interpreter and you'll likely hear some amazing stories. As an Afghan war veteran myself, I'd like to tell you about my interpreter, Mohammad.
Mohammad served as an Afghan interpreter for coalition forces from 2008 until 2012. I had the honor of serving with him in 2010. For four years, this brave young Afghan worked selflessly and tirelessly to help his country and ours, withstanding enemy fire and IED attacks alongside coalition forces. As result of his service, the Taliban labeled him a traitor, killed his father, and kidnapped his little brother for ransom, threatening the same fate.
At only 25, he is the oldest son and is the sole breadwinner for his family. After fighting for over three years to bring him to safety, we finally welcomed him to America on January 20th, 2014. On December 3rd, we welcomed the rest of his family. Please help us get their new life started and continue to support this family.
