When I first started thinking about studying abroad, it felt like more of a dream than an actual possibility. I’ve always been curious about the world outside my own, how people live, what they eat, how they speak, and how they see life. Growing up, we didn’t have the means to travel or explore beyond our neighborhood. Most of our time was spent working, budgeting, and getting through the day-to-day. But even through that, I’ve always believed that education and new experiences could change everything.
Recently, I was accepted into a study abroad program in Japan, and for the first time, that dream is starting to feel real. This program isn’t just about academics for me, it’s about growth, independence, and finally stepping into the world I’ve spent so much time learning about from afar.
But even with the opportunity, I’m still facing a major challenge: funding.
I’ve been working 30 hours a week, saving as much as I can, and applying for scholarships. Still, there’s a gap I haven’t been able to fill on my own.
The costs of airfare, housing, tuition, meals, transportation, insurance, and basic living expenses are more than I can cover by myself.
Here’s what the funds I’m raising will go toward:
Flight to and from Japan, student housing for the semester, academic fees and course materials, transportation and meals, health insurance required for the program, and a small emergency fund for safety.
This trip represents more than just school credit or a stamp on a passport. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience the world, gain a deeper understanding of different cultures, and develop into the person I want to be. I know that with the right support, I’ll be able to make the most of this experience, and I’m committed to giving back and paying it forward to others in the future.
If you could help, even in a small way, it would mean everything to me. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for believing in my journey.
