Hello!
My name is Journee Benjamin and I attend Temple University in Philadelphia, as a undergraduate sophmore. I am writing to you today to ask for financial help, so I can register for classes! For me to register for classes and take a hold off my account, I'd need to pay over $20k - though this might be a longshot, even taking loans out is unfortuately something I can’t afford.
Over the past few years, my parents have faced significant financial challenges, primarily due to the adverse effects of the global pandemic. Both of them experienced job/client loss, which resulted in a substantial loss of income and financial stability. While my dad has obtained 2 full-time jobs currently, he is still in the process of establishing himself and recovering from the financial setbacks incurred during this challenging period. My mom is a community birthworker and student midwife and many of the families she supports are migrant non-English speaking people so they more than often are paying on sliding scale, discounted rates or sometimes cannot afford to pay which leaves her with the tough burden to continue support with little to no pay.
As a result of these circumstances, we are currently facing financial difficulties that make it increasingly challenging to support my educational expenses. With the hope of finding a solution, I am reaching out to my communities for any potential avenues for financial assistance. While I understand that the demand for financial assistance may exceed the available resources, I kindly request your consideration of our situation. Any form of financial support or guidance; grants, scholarships, etc, you could provide would significantly alleviate the burden on my family and allow me to continue my education without undue financial stress, considering the spring semester has already started.
If necessary, I can provide relevant financial documents to provide a more comprehensive understanding of our family's current circumstances. We eagerly await your response and the opportunity to discuss any potential avenues for financial assistance that may be available to support my education at Temple University.
