The Yale Gradcast is working hard to release new content each month, but we're currently unfunded! Please consider helping us out so we can build this project and preserve it for the future!

The Yale Gradcast is a podcast devoted to exploring issues related to graduate student life, study, and professional development as well as issues facing the academy more generally. We have an exciting line-up of episodes this year on topics such as Graduate Student Unionization, Child Care and Family Life, The Yale Endowment, The Yale Corporation, and Campus Activism. We are a group of about 10 volunteers from across the graduate school, and we want to build this project, expand our reach and focus, collaborate with different groups at Yale and in New Haven, and preserve this project for the future. However, we are currently completely unfunded, so we are trying to raise some money to help with our operating costs for the year. Some things these funds would help us do include:
- Cover insurance costs for our producers. We rent most of our equipment, but in case anything happens while we're out doing interviews, we want to purchase insurance so none of us volunteers are stuck with hundreds or even thousands of dollars in costs for damaged equipment.
- Buy music: We spend a lot of time trying to figure out what music we can use legally in what ways. Being able to purchase music for use in the podcast or pay musicians to produce music for us would save us a lot of time and simplify matters legally!
- SoundCloud fees: In order to host the podcast episodes, we use soundcloud, but the free membership doesn't give us much control over the page or much space to host the episodes. As we run out of space for hosting, we will have to remove previous episodes. Since we would like to be able to keep old episodes available for your enjoyment, we would like to move to a pro membership with soundcloud.
- Equipment: Because our ability to rent equipment relies on availability and the academic calendar, we would eventually like to be able to buy some equipment so we aren't as reliant on rental availability and risks.
We would be grateful for any amount you can pledge to help us out! But in addition, we have some great perks available, and everyone who pledges at least $5 will get a pass to our upcoming fundraising party/bake sale on April 20th from 8:30PM - close at GPSCY!
