Globally, much
attention has been given to the lack of educational opportunities for girls. In
Kenya, early or forced marriage, unaffordable school fees, sexual violence, and
the natural monthly occurrence of their menstrual cycle often limit girls’ educational
opportunities.
In Kenya, girls miss
an average of 4-9 days of school each month due to a lack of access to sanitary napkins. Girls limited access to education reinforces
gender inequalities. As a result, women traditionally have limited involvement
in national and community decisions even when they are directly impacted.
Your support
will help girls in Asembo Village and Kisumu slums in Western Kenya have
access to sanitary napkins and secondary school scholarships.
