We are raising funds to fix our home after a contractor tore it to bones and ran off with all of our money.

Our Story.

We hired a contractor to fully remodel our upstairs into a master bedroom. We live in a small house and were trying to give our daughter her own room instead of sharing with her two brothers. We paid them in full (I know big mistake) an amount of $18,781. Come to find out it’s just a man and wife (very nice people) seemingly. The first week went okay they were showing up and working. After that we lost a family member and let them take a few days off so we could mourn the loss. After this it took many phone calls and weeks to get them to return. When they did they would work for an hour or so then claim to be going to lunch or the store and not come back. We tried to be patient with them and work with them. Then we check the upstairs to see the bits of work that had been done were done so poorly it looked like a child did it. I peeked in on them while they were “working” the last day and she was sitting in a chair and he was kicking his foot on a piece of paneling to make it seem like he was working. We finally decided we were losing too much time and money and would have to take out and redo everything again so we agreed with him on settling for a specific priced refund. He agreed and left. He then proceeded to block us on phone, facebook and all forms of communication when trying to reach out to receive our money back. We had others reach out and they blocked them too. All lawyers and attorneys we have called said it would cost more to go to court than it would be to just call it a loss so we’d be even more in the negative. I put almost a years worth of savings to pay this company. Now I have to pay all over again to put the house back together which was so much worse than we had thought once we started fixing their mess, not to mention the man urinated in a bottle and left it on the floor. So we are currently in the hole over $24,800 and counting as we fix it. We are now selling what we can and working extra to try to come up with the funds to finish our house. Any help we could get is truly appreciated. Thank you .
