I’m a mom reaching out with a heavy heart. My 15-year-old daughter is an amazing young lady—she’s a cheerleader, honor roll student, and dreams of becoming a pediatric doctor at an HBCU one day. Like any teen, she loves makeup, hair, and hanging out with her friends.
Her dad was the main provider for our family, but he lost his job unexpectedly. Now, I’m the only one working, and as a federal employee, every dollar is going toward just keeping the lights on. Tuition is out of reach, and I’m afraid she may have to leave her school, her cheer team, and everything she’s worked so hard for.
It breaks my heart to even think about telling her. I’ve always tried to fix everything for my daughter, and right now, I just can’t do it alone.
