Ember was diagnosed with Hypoxic Ischemic Encephalopathy (HIE) at birth. HIE is caused by a lack of oxygen and blood flow to the brain which commonly occurs from the cord being around a babies neck restricting oxygen. Since her diagnosis of HIE she has been diagnosed with orpharyngeal dysphagia, seizure disorder, and global developmental delay. Ember is a true miricle. She may not be the typical 9 month old baby but she makes progress every day. She recently started PT, OT, and will be starting Feeding Therapy, and Aquatic Therapy (when indoor pool reopens!). Fortunately, Ember's insurance will cover all her necessary therapies but not the "non-essential" ones. However, we know that there is SO much out there for babies like Ember that are not necessaily traditional but greatly help. After doing some extensive research on Stem Cells and hyperbaric oxygen chamber therapy, I decided to start this fundraiser to assist her mom in renting a HBOT for a few months to try out with Ember. HBOT is offered in the hospital setting. However, due to Ember being on state insurance, it is not a covered service. Additionally, these treatments are even more beneficial when done daily. A rental would permit her mom to do that from the comfort of their own home. I am hopeful that with our village as large as it is, we can come together and make this happen! Any additional funds raised will go in a fund for Ember for future therapies (e,g., equine therapy!!)
