Daniel's Fellowship with International Justice Mission

From Daniel Lee

I'm raising funds to work with International Justice Mission next year as an Admin Fellow at their newest field office in Bangkok, Thailand. After a year working at IJM's Delhi office, I'm excited for this new challenge!

Only one week until I leave for Thailand!

It's been so good catching up with family and friends at home for a few months, but now I'm ready for this next step. To all the supporters making this year possible, a huge THANK YOU! It's always hard to step out and ask for funds, but I've been so humbled by the generosity and encouragement from those around me. Between the accumulated donations and working for the last few months, I'm quite close to being fully funded for the year (the number on the Fundly site is a pretty misleading). If you feel inclined to give, the donation campaign will be active all year. I deeply appreciate any support and it will be crucial for the coming year.

I'll be volunteering volunteering as an Administrative Fellow for International Justice Mission in Bangkok, where we will work against the trafficking and forced labor in the fishing industry. For more information about the problem and what IJM does to help, click the link below.

More Info

International Justice Mission is a Christian nonprofit that works to eradicate modern day slavery by strengthening and partnering with local justice systems to enforce laws which protect the most vulnerable in society. We do this by assisting police and social workers in rescue, rehabilitation, and legal representation for victims of slavery who might never be defended otherwise. Our vision is to, "rescue thousands, protect millions, and prove that justice for the poor is possible."

This year, IJM is sending me to work as an Admin Fellow for a new field office in Bangkok, Thailand. The Bangkok office is focused on slavery and human rights abuses in the fishing industry, where migrants from Cambodia and Myanmar are often sold and kept on fishing vessels for months or years at a time. Three years ago, these shady practices were brought into full view by an Associated Press expose, which linked slavery to several internation corporations' supply chains. Now, IJM is partnering with Walmart to fund the Bangkok field office, which will seek to drive slavery and abuse out of the industry.

I'll be supporting field staff full-time in an administrative capacity with tasks like: recruitment and hiring assistance, database management, streamlining processes, organization and scheduling and more. Funds raised will be used as living expenses like food, rent, and transportation as this position is unpaid.

If you feel compelled by this mission, would you consider being on my support team with a monthly donation?
