Chip Southworth is a prominent artist in Jacksonville and beyond. Following the George Zimmerman verdict last year, Chip began "allegedly" painting city utility boxes, dumpsters, poles, etc. to spread a message of peace and love during this tumultuous time. This artwork, which is world's apart from his personal style, paid homage to the late Keith Haring, a New York-based graffiti and visual artist and socia...l activist. Referring to himself as "Keith Haring's Ghost" or "KHG13," he "allegedly" painted dozens of pieces, mostly in Riverside, San Marco and Downtown, the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office began investigating "Keith Haring's Ghost" for vandalism. Despite overwhelming public support for KHG's work—and considerable media coverage, JSO finally arrested suspect Chip on March 18 for felony criminal mischief. This purpose of this page is twofold: 1) to raise funds to help Chip and his family with expenses; and 2) raise awareness of the "controversy" of art in public places.
