At this moment we are seeking a foundational grant to fund the organization. We can’t store food or serve the community unless we have the proper items and permits to secure those national food contracts. We will need shelving, refrigeration and a storage area to secure food from food banks. This is our first program besides minor giveaways on small budgets due to personal circumstances. We will need 3 paid employees, and a handful of volunteers to help operate the kitchen. The employees will mostly be prep cooks, and the volunteers will help disburse food during food giveaways. We are need for our community because we will be the first soup kitchen in New Orleans East.

The donations received will be used to secure a building and bring  it up to code to receive contracts with local and national food banks. We will be partnered with Second Harvest Food Bank as soon as we can show proof of a building. Once we meet the qualifications they will begin supplying us with donated items. The grant will be used to purchase cooking equipment, and pantry items such as shelving, and storage.  We may need to buildout a kitchen if there isn’t any kitchen available in our area. We will need insurance, and permits. We will also need a receiving and deliver van to transport food from pantry to our location. We need funding to pay our salaries to the line cooks and food preparers. We may need to purchase certain food items to go along with the donated items received to complete meals.
