After 24 years of love, partnership, and sacrifice, I tragically lost my beloved spouse—my pillar of strength, a dedicated Disabled American Veteran. Our journey together was marked by resilience, commitment, and unwavering support, as we navigated the challenges that came with military service and its lasting impact.

When he passed away due to service-related causes, I lost more than my husband; I lost the foundation of my life. And since that day, everything.

Now, in the wake of this profound loss, his children from previous marriage took everything....

Cleaned out his bank account which included his last SSI check entitled to me. I didn’t receive a dollar.

They attempted to remove me from my property in order to get the house up for sale, so I had to call the police.

In my absence, they took everything out of my home and put it in storage unit in his name. It took me 2 months to retrieve everything and they kept what they wanted

They changed the locks, turned off electricity and utilities.

Took all his personal belongings, I didn’t even get to keep one of his shirts.

Daughter/executor refuses to provide a copy of his will and still hasn't filed with probate court.

They have our only mailbox key, it was on his key ring, thus denying me access to my mail...had to change my mailing address.

Everything they have done is illegal and they're getting away with it, because I cannot afford an attorney. I was in turmoil, duress, unable to find the strength to fight them.

Everything we built together has been stripped from me. I abandoned my home and stayed with family to find some peace of mind.

In January I moved back into my condo, the place we built together. The police were on the phone while I broke a window to get into my own house. When the lights came back on I cried, then I danced in my living room with my dachshund, Serenity, I rescued her 4yrs ago, now she’s rescuing me.

I receive DIC through the VA, but I’ve suffered a  70% reduction in income and everything is falling apart. My home is in foreclosure, I have no running water and my car but is not registered because of state inspection. It needs $2,000 in repairs, but it's paid for.

I finally got the storage in my name... that was an exhausting process. I’m approved for EBT and income based utilities. I’ve done what I can so far and in a more stable setting I can even work.

Every donation, no matter the size, makes a difference in helping me rebuild and regain a sense of dignity.

Grief is supposed to bring mourning, reflection, and healing. But instead, it has brought nothing but turmoil and betrayal. I have been left to fight alone. I am still here, and I am reaching out—because I need help to survive."

A Call to Action

I am not asking for luxury, but no veteran’s spouse should ever be left to suffer this way. Please stand with me.
