Friends, family, and compassionate hearts— we are reaching out today to share Makaio’s story and ask for your prayers, love, and support as we navigate this difficult season he is facing once again.
In November of 2023 Makaio was diagnosed with Stage 3 T Cell Lymphoma. Over the past 18 months he has courageously fought through chemotherapy, multiple procedures, complications with his pancreas several times and has been a warrior through it all. In February, we received a good report of the tumor shrinking and he was on his way to remission.
May 31st, Makaio was having pain in his chest and we received heartbreaking news: A new mass has not only grown, but has also spread to his lymph nodes. He was readmitted to the hospital to begin a much more intensive round of chemotherapy. This intensive infusion chemo and lumbar punctures will continue weekly. The Doctors want him to be put into a CAR T-cell clinical trial however out of 3 locations in the world there is only one open in Philadelphia. If he is chosen for the trial, we would leave to a new city and a new hospital. If not he continues to receive the intensive chemo here in Spokane until the cancer is gone and then we would be heading to Seattle for a bone marrow transplant. As you can imagine, we are all in shock and heartbroken that he has to endure this again but are all standing in faith for a miracle and Makaio will walk in complete healing.
We trust that God is with us — that He is our son’s ultimate healer, comforter, and sustainer. Even in the darkest moments, we are holding onto hope and declaring life over his body.
As we face rising medical costs, time away from work, and many unexpected challenges, we’ve created a Fundly campaign to ask for help. Every donation — no matter the size — will go directly to supporting his care, travel needs, and helping us stay by his side through it all.
If you feel led to give, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. And if you can’t give financially, we simply ask that you pray with us — pray for strength, peace, and total healing in Jesus’ name.
Note from Jordan, Makaio’s dad:
This journey has brought myself, his mom, and my wife together in full unity — putting everything aside to surround our son with strength, love, and unwavering support. We are standing together, and we are standing in faith.
