(URGENT) A Single Mother’s Fight to pay rent

More Info

My name is Karina, and I’m a single mother of two young children—Emma, who is 7, and Liam, who just turned 3. I never imagined I would find myself in this situation, but I’m reaching out because I am desperate for help.

Just a year ago, my husband and I were building what I thought was a happy life together. But everything fell apart when he left us for another woman. Not only did he abandon me and our kids emotionally, but he also left behind a mountain of credit card debt in my name. He drained our savings and disappeared, leaving me to pick up the pieces.

Since then, I’ve been working tirelessly to provide for my children. I juggle two part-time jobs, but it’s barely enough to cover our basic needs. I’ve sold most of our belongings to make ends meet, but the debt he left behind has made it impossible to get ahead.

Last week, I received an eviction notice. I have just 5 days to pay $1,200 in rent, or my children and I will be forced out of our apartment. I’ve already tried everything—negotiating with my landlord, applying for emergency assistance, and borrowing from friends—but I’ve run out of options.

I’m terrified of what will happen to Emma and Liam if we lose our home. Emma has been asking me why I cry at night, and I don’t know how to explain to her that we might not have a place to sleep next week. Liam is too young to understand, but the thought of him not having a safe space breaks my heart.

I’m reaching out to kind-hearted people who might be able to help us in this time of need. Every dollar donated will go directly toward paying our rent and giving us a chance to stay in our home. If we can raise more, I will use it to pay down the debt and create a more stable future for my children.

I hate asking for help, but I’m out of options. If you can donate, even just a little, it would mean the world to us. And if you’re unable to contribute, sharing our story would also be a huge help.

Thank you for reading, and thank you for caring. Your kindness could be the reason my children and I have a place to call home.
