To provide Scarves, Hats, & Gloves to people who are homeless or stuck out in the cold weather in winter. Over the last 4 years we have provided more than 1,750 scarves, 750 hats, & 480 pairs of gloves.

Love In Action: Our Merry Maker, Ilona, shared a story with our volunteers that touched us so much we wanted to share with our supporters.
After leaving more than 20 Hats & Scarves outside Compassion House by the Sea (left image), she bumped into a fellow (upper right image) wearing one of the scarves. She tells it ...
"And afterwards [scarfbombing] I did my weekly shopping at Publix a few blocks further. While I was loading groceries into the car I see this gentleman wearing a scarf I made ❤️ I said “ hey I made that scarf, I am so happy to see it being used” well he thanked me, asked me my name, and said “See God wanted you to see the blessings He worked through you to make others warm. “

Thank you Ilona for sharing your story and for being a part of our village. We are so fortunate to be blessed with Merry Makers who spread warmth and love all around Jacksonville and the surrounding areas.
Our grass roots, all volunteer effort was inspired by other cities starting in 2013 and every winter since have left scarves, hats, & gloves around the city in areas where people experiencing homelessness are often stuck out in the cold. This year, we've expanded our mission and are helping families that have been affected by Hurricane Irma, too. While they may not be experiencing homelessness, the condition of their homes after Irma, has left them in the cold, too. We are happy to accept donations of fleece, yarn, finished products, & of course money to help us in our 5th year. Volunteers and businesses have donated money, time, and materials to help make winter a little warmer around Jacksonville. For winter 2017-2018 we want to continue those efforts, and are looking for folks to donate to this year's event as well. We can use financial donations, volunteers to help make scarves from fleece & yarn, as well as folks to help distribute them into areas where folks are homeless. THANK YOU!

Today a few of our Merry Makers took a tour of the Sulzbacher Center, one of several agencies providing services to people who are experiencing hardship and/or homelessness.
Not only do they have residential facilities, they provide medical and dental services to non-residents on a sliding scale basis. Meals are available for residents, and non-residents, too.
At the end of our tour we were delighted to share 150 Hats, 40 Scarves, and 10 pair of Gloves for folks who are out in the cold.

It's COLD in Jacksonville this week, so we hit the streets helping folks in need. Our Merry Makers have been all over Jacksonville giving warmth to those in need.
So far this year we've shared:
262 Scarves
220 Hats
180 Pairs of Gloves
71 Blankets
Our shelves are now getting bare and the money that continues to come in will help us keep going strong as Winter continues in the South. THANK YOU for giving!
