Studying abroad or pursuing internationally-focused coursework isn’t always an option for IUPUI students. That’s where the International House (I-House) comes in.
I-House is a multinational living-learning community open to all IUPUI students interested in cross-cultural understanding. Each four-room I-House suite brings together international and American students who live and learn together every semester. Each year, nearly 20 countries are represented at I-House.
In addition to living together, I-House residents provide a forum for the exchange of ideas and dialogue about international issues and take active leadership roles in international student organizations and service learning projects.
Since 1991, I-House has produced more than 1,100 alumni, now living and working across the world as global ambassadors of IUPUI and Indianapolis.
With your help, we can meet our general needs as well as deepen and broaden I-House’s impact at IUPUI—and beyond—by:
- Continuing funding for a Global Scholars program, which will support promising I-House residents — both from the U.S. and abroad — to stay for a second year and lead intercultural activities for residents and for the campus
- Growing I-House programming, including the expansion of a global alumni speaker series
- Creating more local alumni with a global outlook — and more international alumni with strong ties to Indianapolis
In addition, the Global Scholars program with enhanced programming was piloted in 2017-18 and 2018-19 due to a generous grant from Chancellor Paydar’s Welcoming Campus Initiative. Now, it’s up to donors like you to ensure that the legacy of this program continues as the IUPUI Office of International Affairs looks to its next 30 years.
You are invited to celebrate the IUPUI Office of International Affairs’ 30th Anniversary in 2019 by becoming one of 30 donors to donate $30 or more to celebrate the legacy and impact of international programs at IUPUI.
