In 2021, many Haitians living on the Eastern Shore became eligible for Temporary Protective Status. This status allows them to work and invest in the community. However, many were unable to pay the $545 filing fee for the status and work permit due to the fact that they cannot work until they have the permit. Thanks to the funds we raised last year, were were able to assist Haitian families with over $8,000 in funds to pay the filing fee. This type of investment in our community will pay for itself ten-fold as clients immediately enter the workforce once they receive this status.
