WHO: In 2014, my childhood friend, Pam Johnston, was diagnosed with Leukemia and Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma and required a bone marrow transplant for recovery.  Upon hearing the news of Pam's diagnosis, I wanted to do something, anything, to help.  So I created the "Pier-to-Pier for Pam" to raise funds directly for Pam's treatment and increase awareness for bone marrow and blood donations.   I am part of an amazing wellness community and in only three weeks, we rallied to raise almost $7k.  On Feb 22, 2014 over 100 people participated in the event itself by walking, running or biking along the Huntington Beach boardwalk in support.  Sadly, while Pam's transplant was successful she lost her battle with the disease in June 2015.  But that hasn't stopped us!  We are continuing the annual tradition in Pam's honor and this year all proceeds will go to the Pam Johnston Scholarship Fund, which was created in her name to honor one deserving student from our alma mater who exemplifies her spirit and originality and wants to pursue a career in art or design.  Please join us for an inspiring, fit and fun morning at the beach!  Erica Roselius ~ Owner, Driven Fitness

WHAT: How to participate - We are offering both an in-person and new this year, a virtual, option!

In person: The Pier-to-Pier is an informal fitness event suitable for the whole family. Run, walk or bike your choice of three marked routes from Huntington Beach to Newport Beach.

There will be several routes available for all abilities:

3 mile out and back route for short distance walkers

6 mile out and back route for walkers and runners

11.6 mile pier-to-pier distance for long distance walkers

Virtually: Can’t join us in HB?  Don’t worry, you can still participate!  Pay your virtual registration fee and you will be entered to win our special Healthy Living Grand Prize basket chock full of stuff you can enjoy from wherever you’re located. Then choose a 3, 6 or 11.6 mile route near your home, complete it with us virtually on Nov. 7th and then post a photo of your run to our P2P Facebook page and/or Instagram and #P2P2015!

Ticket to event: $25 per person (Your $25 goes directly to the Pam Johnston Scholarship Fund.  Registration fee includes raffle ticket for grand prize basket - click here for the full list of goodies)

*At this time the P2P is not a registered non-profit and registration fees are not tax deductible.

T-Shirts:

The women's tank will look just like this except yellow/white.  The men's t-shirt will look like this with the P2P logo.

This year in lieu of free event t-shirts there will be t-shirts and tanks for purchase beginning Oct 1.  We chose yellow because it was Pam’s favorite color!  Click here to purchase your shirt and select "online store" and then choose between pick-up or shipped.   (*Note: all apparel must be ordered by Oct 15th to guarantee arrival in time for the event).  Apparel will be available for pick-up at Pure Ride Cycles in Lake Forest on Saturday, Nov. 6 and at event check-in on Nov. 7.  Virtual participants can have their shirts mailed to them.  Any questions: contact [email protected]
