More Info

The Issue

The Beth Salem House is a house built in 1896 in Bradenton, FL. It is among the oldest houses in Manatee County. The current owners are unable to continue paying the carrying costs (especially the real estate taxes), and have sold the land for use as a gas station. They had hoped to separately convey the house to someone who was willing to relocate it, but have been unsuccessful finding anyone willing to pay the relocation costs. If the house is not relocated, it will be demolished, and a rare piece of history will be lost forever.

About The House

Coming soon. In the meantime, please read this article:

The Plan to Save The House

The overall goals of the project are to acquire an appropriate parcel of land, and to move the house to it. However, it is almost impossible to determine the feasibility and costs of attaining those goals without consulting professionals.

What is Phase 1?

In the first phase, we are only seeking funds to do a feasibility study. This will include consultations with an attorney, county officials, real estate professionals, historic preservation experts, contractors and other interested parties.

The goals of phase 1 are to determine whether the project is feasible and, if so, to find an available relocation parcel and procure accurate estimates for the relocation costs and other expenses.

Once it is determined that the project is feasible, and a reliable cost estimate has been determined, a phase 2 will begin in which donations will be solicited for the actual relocation costs.
